Alexika MD Mark Robinson is to cycle 100 miles in the RideLondon event on 29th May in support of the charity Prostate Cancer UK. Mark’s Dad had a scare with the disease but is now in good health thanks to amazing treatment and care, but so much more is needed for people less fortunate.
The web site of Prostate Cancer UK explains the issue as follows: “Too many men are needlessly dying of prostate cancer. The latest data shows that the number of men dying each year has gone up (again) and underscores the terrible fact that this disease is as big as breast cancer. The latest data shows that 12,000 men (in the UK) died of prostate cancer in one year. Most of these men died because their prostate cancer was not detected early enough.” To have the biggest possible impact for men with prostate cancer, and for those not yet diagnosed and future generations, the charity aims to tackle the following priorities: getting men diagnosed earlier and more accurately, getting better treatments and getting better support.
