Meet the Team

Mark RobinsonMark Robinson – Director

Prior to co-founding Alexika in 1998, Mark spent 10 years in marketing and export management roles in manufacturing industries – and part of that work was purchasing translations. He knew from the outset how important it is for commercial purchasers of translations that they are buying with confidence and can rely on punctual delivery.

Mark has a degree in German Studies from the University of Lancaster, a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists and an MBA from Cranfield University. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. He is also a qualified cricket coach, and most summer evenings find him coaching his squad of U13 cricketers – or just dreaming of playing cricket for England against Australia.

Gemma CooperGemma Cooper – Translations and Training Manager

Gemma is busy at the centre of everything that we do here – smoothing the process for clients, translators and the in-house team. Gemma enjoys the challenge of managing the most complex of language projects for a wide range of clients. She is also immensely knowledgeable about SDL Trados translation software and is the lead trainer for our courses for translators and translation project managers.

Gemma has a degree in Spanish and Italian from the University of Leicester and a post-graduate MA in Translation from the University of Salford. She is an advanced user of and Approved Trainer for SDL Trados translation software. Her passions include travel and baking some wonderful cakes that appear in the office from time to time…

Becky TaylorBecky Taylor – Translations Coordinator

Becky brings the practical approach that you might expect from a graduate linguist with broad experience of the publishing industry. She joined Alexika in 2008 and is equally at home helping clients with their projects and also working closely with translators to produce their best work.

Becky has a degree in French and International Relations from the University of Reading and is currently studying for the Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists. A huge tennis fan who keeps fit cycling to the office, she is also often busy organising events for the Parents’ Association of a local Primary School – and is always on the lookout for new quiz questions…

Helen TawnHelen Tawn – Translations Coordinator

Helen brings a great eye for detail and patience to our linguistic work. She has seen many and varied translation projects since joining Alexika in 2003. As a graduate linguist and also a Chartered Librarian, she is also ideally placed to manage the data in our translator records.

Helen has a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford and a postgraduate Diploma in Information and Library Studies from Liverpool John Moores University. She is Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. She also enjoys playing recorder with early music groups and is a recent winner of a regional cooking competition with her famous recipe for plum jumbly tart.

Sabine RobinsonSabine Robinson – Co-founder and non-executive Director

A German national, Sabine co-founded Alexika in 1998 and brought experience from within the translation sector and from international business. From the start, she understood how to supply high quality languages services to commercial clients better than other translation companies.

Following her studies at the University of Munich, Sabine completed a degree in European Humanities from the Open University. She is also involved in the local Pantomime Group and is this year looking forward to being a Good Fairy!
