Alexika was founded in 1998 by Mark Robinson, a German Studies graduate with a decade of experience in industrial sales and marketing across international boundaries. A key part of this was sourcing high quality translations. Along with co-founder Sabine Bauer, a native German with a UK degree written entirely in English, the idea for Alexika was born.
Sabine brought experience from within the translation sector and from international business to the table, she understood how to supply high quality languages services to commercial clients better than other translation companies in the market. From the beginning, the aim was to make Alexika a market leader for quality, professional language services.
Mark said: “We understand why high quality translation is so important to our clients. We understand the need to deliver when we say we will, and to provide good value for money. Today the company serves clients throughout the UK and Europe and we translate for multi-national organisations as well as small companies.
“People are our most important asset. The in-house team are all graduates with a mixture of linguistic and other post-graduate qualifications. Our translators are based all over the world. Translators work into their mother tongue, and all translators and interpreters are fully qualified and experienced.”
Alexika uses a specialist project management system to deliver the highest levels of service. The latest SDL Trados® translation memory technology is used where appropriate to ensure consistency of terminology. The team also offers training in SDL Trados® translation software for translators and translation project managers. Courses are held at our very pleasant offices in Addingham near Leeds in the North of England.
The mission of Alexika Ltd is to provide high quality translation and related language services to commercial organisations. Our focus is the commercial needs of our clients including excellence in linguistic quality and customer service.
We recognise that our staff and external translators are highly qualified professionals and we aim to treat each other in a professional manner. All translators are qualified, have appropriate experience and have sufficient knowledge of terminology in their chosen fields.

The international quality standard ISO 9001:2008 quality standard specifies requirements for a quality management system. It demonstrates a company’s ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. It also aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. Alexika Ltd has been accredited to the standard since 2007.
For the majority of our clients, translations that are compliant
to the international ISO9001 Quality standard are sufficient. However, for
certain sectors, for instance the drug and medical device market, we are
sometimes asked to deliver translations that also comply to the ISO17100 quality standard.
Our standard price is for translations to be ISO9001 compliant; if you need a
translation that is also ISO17100 compliant, please ask for a quote and we will be
happy to help.
